Friday, Kime Holman contacted me! Earlier on this blog, I told the story of how photographer Bob Adelman had photographed Holman growing up in Harlem in a “Life without Father.” They kept in touch through the years as Holman got his education and started in business. In this photo, he is comforted by teacher Wilma Beason. I held off contacting him because I needed to make sure I had the money — with donations through USA Projects — to travel and document his story. Adelman had told Holman about my interest, and Friday, Kime reached out to me! He said he’d been following the progress of my crowd funding campaign. He’s willing to participate, and we’re both confident that I’ll make my funding goal. Today, I’m at $11,360, and I know of another $1,000 that’s on its way, with more pledged. So, I’m roughly $5,000 from my goal, and I want to reach that by Sunday night. Please consider contributing and help me tell Kime’s story. Thanks.
